Paid Private Instruction
Paid private Go lessons are available at the Seattle Go Center. We will continue our programs of free group lessons on other days, and several folks volunteer on Tuesdays and Saturdays to teach and review games. Our teachers are qualified for the levels they teach.
Meet the Instructors
Drew Barnett
Drew Barnett is available to teach players age 5 and older, from beginner up to 4 kyu. He teachers a weekly workshop at Seattle Go Center on Mondays and has experience teaching Go at Schools for both one off classes and weekly classes over several months.

Rates: $28/hr
Funing Wang
Funing Wang is available to teach students aged 5 and up, from 3k players to 3d players. He specialize in clear, detail-oriented instruction, with a focus on helping students build solid life and death fundamentals and practical ending game skills. he primarily teach online, offering structured lessons, interactive problem-solving, and personalized reviews tailored to each student’s level and learning pace.

Alex Weavers
Alex Weavers is an AGA 2k with about 6 years of experience. Alex has been getting mentored in the game for years and is looking to give back to the community. Alex’s teaching style is to show simple, natural moves that allow all the stones to live in harmony.

Rate: $28/hr
Chris Wells
Chris Wells is available to teach players age 13 and older, from beginner up to 8 kyu. He has taught at Seattle Go Center and at the Empty Sky Go Club in Rochester, NY. “I enjoy teaching Go, and particularly watching the same student get stronger over multiple games, with the most satisfying moments being when they employ a trick, or avoid a trap, that I had taught them about previously.”

Rates: $30 for 1-hr lessons at SGC, $28-40/week for online instruction over OGS and Zoom/Discord
Terms and Conditions
The instructors establish the fees for their instruction, but the minimum charge is $28/hr. You can pay directly to the Seattle Go Center by check, cash, or through Paypal (button below).
Parents (or guardians) of children under 18 having lessons must be present with their child during the lesson.
